Term 4 Main Stars

Go on a bug hunt in your garden. How many different species can you find.Design something to promote 150 years of Māwhera.Find out about Christmas or New Year in another country or culture. Do something kind for others. Baking, write a nice letter or help them in some way.

Create a weekly meal plan incuding breakfast, lunch and tea. Work out how much this will cost from the supermarket.Cook a meal from your weekly plan. Try and use something you planted last term (or something else from your garden)Do something outdoors. Climb a tree and build a hut! Build a bird feeder or plant something in the garden.WHAT IS YOUR IDEA FOR THIS MAIN STAR? Leave me a comment...Find and recite a poem and find out about the author.Design and create a decoration that could be for Christmas or Hanukkah or Diwali.
The 'missing' main star can be of your choice. Make sure it is something you are really interested in or LOVE to do. Leave a comment underneath telling me what you want to do!

Parents - please allow your child to complete these activities independently (as much as possible eg they will need your help with some parts of the activities). These activities help your child develop the Key Competencies that will allow them to grow and develop skills for life.

Global Read Aloud 2014 - Starting Week 10!

Breakdown for the 6 weeks:
TERM 3

Week 10: Chapters 1 - 4
TERM 4

Week 1: Chapters 5 - 9
Week 2: Chapters 10 -14
Week 3: Chapters 15 -19
Week 4: Chapters 20 - 24
Week 5: Chapter 25 and some other stuff


Each week will will read selected bits of the book and then we will discuss our thoughts with our mystery buddies. We call them 'Mystery' because we don't know exactly where they are. We suspect they are in the US but we will be asking them questions to find out!
